The Lansky sharpening systems or
kits are popular with customers who have problems sharpening their
knives. They include a variety of stones to begin and finish the
sharpening process and they have a clamp and guide system to hold and
maintain the edge angles. Most kits come with a few accessories such as
oil and extra long screws (for clamping extra thick knives) and most
also come with a storage case. We suggest that you purchase
the optional plastic or metal stand because it makes using the knife
clamp much easier, especially on large kitchen or hunting knives. The
kits will sharpen about 99% of all your knives except for really strange
blade shapes and a few extra small blades like those on keychain knives.
They are well worth the money.
Each original Lansky
Knife Sharpener System comes with an assortment of aluminum oxide knife
sharpening hones (Aluminum oxide = MOHS Hardness 9.0 / Diamond = MOHS
Hardness 10.0), fully adjustable guide rods (one for each hone in the
system), the multi-angle knife clamp/honing stone guide, extra long
clamp screw, and a bottle of honing oil. Each hone in the system has a
color coded holder that is finger grooved for comfort, and designed with
finger protection in mind. The Lansky Standard, Deluxe, and Universal
Knife Sharpener Systems come with easy to follow instructions, and are
packaged in a custom molded carrying case.
The core of each Lansky
knife sharpener system is the combination knife clamp/honing stone guide
unit. Made of aircraft grade aluminum, the multi-angle knife
clamp/honing stone guide has a convenient thumb screw adjustment for
secure blade positioning, a mounting hole on both sides (for 360 degree
rotation, when using a mounting system), and choice of 17, 20, 25, or 30
degree angle settings for the honing stone. The honing stone guide
insures an exact stone to blade angle-taking the guesswork out of knife
sharpening. The knife clamp/honing stone guide unit is easily utilized
by holding it in your hand: optional mounting systems are available.
