The Hisshou, designed by James Williams, is a specialized tool that is intended for military personnel and special forces. The Hisshou is designed to meet the specific requests of coalition forces overseas for a more powerful tactical tool than his CRKT Hissatsu™, which is in wide use.

The Hisshou's 13" full-tang dual grind Tanto blade is YK-30 high-carbon steel, high satin finished. The long, tapered tip grind is designed for maximum slashing power combined with superior penetration. At 16.4 ounces, the Hisshou also offers superior slashing ability as compared to the Hissatsu. James has followed centuries of Japanese tradition in designing the classic cord-wrapped handle with leather underlays, which compares very well to more modern handle materials, giving excellent grip under all conditions.

The Hisshou comes into play when the operator's firearms cannot be used, as often happens in entry and search operations. It is designed for multiple carry options depending on the choice of the operator. The CRKT designed custom Kydex® sheath has a patented quick-release belt-mounting system for the Hisshou. The sheath has detents which grip the knife securely and wide entry lips which allow the knife to be returned to the sheath with one hand. The belt clip can be attached with the Chicago screws provided for vertical carry. Simply press in the injection-molded nylon retaining clip for instant attachment or release.

Historically, military swords have been sized to fit the fighting environment. Long swords, such as the English broad sword and Japanese katana, could only be used effectively on open fields of battle. Fighting in close or confined quarters required shorter swords, such as the sailor's cutlass and the Japanese wakizashi, which is similar in size to the Hisshou.

The Hisshou demands respect, and is certainly not a sport or work knife, but it can truly be a lifesaver for the military professional. This is a knife that would have been carried by the Samurai.

The Hisshou comes with a beautiful lined display box, as seen in the pictures above.

Great knife that can even be carried concealed - check out "James Williams in Africa" on U Tube to see how. I couldn't be happier with this foot and a half long razor.

This is the best your going to get! Its simply awesome! I'm a very happy customer, mine came pretty sharp out the box. but I've tuned it to be razor sharp with my DMT diamond hone. One thing to keep in mind is that this knife will sever limbs. it will do what it was designed for. It is worth every penny! Thank you Oso Grande for the pleasant shopping experience and the best price.

This is an awesome knife. I bought this weapon for one reason, too takeout anyone that poses to be a threat to to the life of mine or my family. It's a little larger than I expected but after handling it, it grew on me instantly.

The Hisshou is a great and beautiful blade design by James Williams. The rayskin (paracord) handle provides a great grip. The blade is definitely perfect for tactical use or for the collector. It's size and weight compared to its smaller counterparts does create a bit of a problem w/ it staying secure in the sheath (would not recommend carrying it upside down). Overall the blade serves its purpose and function perfectly, and if nothing else it makes a great collector's piece with a display box.

The Hisshou is a great design by James Williams. Though classified as a knife it technically falls into the smaller end of the wakizashi category. It is an excellent medium size with a graceful curve and nice taper. If you have large hands, the handle (tsuka) feels a little slim compared to more traditional blades but it does not bother me enough that it becomes a deal breaker. The double fuller (bo-hi) on one side of the blade seems to me to be a design excess and not necessary. The kydex sheath took a little getting used to over the more traditional but was designed for military use and fits with the MOLLE system very well. This is a stout but graceful blade with ease of access and function in mind. I strongly suggest it to any one who practices an applicable fighting form. If you want a show piece, it might be little steep for you.
