The Spark Lite Aviation Survival Fire Starter was designed specifically for Aviation Survival Kits and is the official U.S. Military fire starter. It has repeatedly received praise from independent reviewers and military personnel alike. The Spark-Lite Fire Starter is lightweight, dependable and simple to use. It is small and light enough to be carried just about anywhere. Starting a fire is as easy as pulling a waterproof Tinder-Quik Tab from the plastic case and igniting it with the Spark-Lite Aviation Fire Starter. The Tinder-Quik tab will burn for 2 to 3 minutes giving you plenty of time to start a fire.
The Spark Lite Aviation Fire Starter also allows for single-handed operation and is disposable after 2000 sparks. This is the perfect fire starter for camping, backpacking and, of course, aviation survival. The Spark-Lite comes complete in a blaze orange plastic container along with 8 Tinder-Quik tabs. Extra Tinder-Quik tabs come in packages of ten.
The Spark Lite Aviation Fire Starter is Military Approved under NSN 1680-01-233-0061 and is the official US Military Firestarter.

This kit works incredibly well. I have one in each of my various survival kits and it is a must have item-- light and effective and they will light the supplied Tinder-Quik about 98% of the time on the very first strike, and I've never failed to light one with two or three strikes. The waterproof tinder is impregnated with a highly combustible substance (maybe wax?) that lets them shed water pretty well. You really have to soak them good to get them to absorb enough water that they don't want to light. And while the striker is very light weight it's deceptively sturdy. They claim it will strike over 1000 times, and I don't doubt it. I've never worn one out yet.
Nice set up, easy to use. Couldn't be easier to stow, comes with tinder and instructions. Cool case. Easy to pack and works well. I have several of these kits (one for the bugout bag, one for my backpacking kit, one for the RV). Since the kit is so compact I even have a few Tinder-Quik fire tabs and the sparker that I store in my Tilley Hat in my minimalist survival kit. They work great and I highly recommend!
