There are a handful of very good knives for very reasonable cost and this is one of them. I dropped mine on a ceramic tile floor tip-first and all it took was a little work with a sharpening stone to fix it. The 440C holds an edge well, and the blade is thick enough that you can really abuse this blade in survival or urban entry/ egress from buildings, e.g. you can easily cut a new door in drywall or plaster and move from room to room without using any doors, or you can build a shelter of pine boughs, batoning this knife through thick branches is no problem - i have hammered on the spine of my CKsur4 with a sledge hammer without damaging the knife. the coating is durable and wears more like an anodized or ceramic coating than a powder-coat. I did get one of the "first production run" models, but i assume later production models are the same excellent knife for a very reasonable price. It is not unusual to find a knife of these materials i.e. G10 scales, titanium coating, .25" thick 440C, for 2-4 times the cost of this knife. The only thing wrong with it is the sheath, which you will want to replace with all of the money you save on the knife. ;)
