Condor 4004C Chopping and Splitting Cruiser Axe, 440C Stainless Head, Hickory Handle, Leather Sheath. True, properly balanced classic style throwing axe. Has a blade width of 7 in., and is made from German 440HC surgical quality stainless steel and heat treated and annealed to about 53 Rockwell. Every edge is hand finished and expertly honed to razor sharpness. This axe has a stainless steel safety roll pin that goes through the head and handle to keep the axe head from flying off the handle. The handle is made from a American hickory hardwood.

Condor uses Vacuum Assist Investment Casting with is a special manufacturing process that they use to make some of their axes in 440C stainless steel. This process allows for greater product detail, strength and manufacturing economics. These axes have a CIP (cast-in-place) wedge, where the wedge that holds the head to a wood handle is actually a part of the head.
