The 2015 QTR-3 Templeton Peck knife has a number of upgrades to name a few. The new QTR-3F is much lighter (nearly 40%) than it's predecessor the QTR3 and it features a thinner handle. Rock solid lockup is accomplished via a titanium framelock with a dual-purpose steel lock bar insert to improve the longevity of the lock mechanism and to serve as an over travel stop. The beefy tanto style blade remains it's 3/16 inch blade thickness and utilizes a flipper for one-hand opening. You will also notice that a new weight reducing elongated thumb hole opener has replaced the dual thumb studs found on the previous model.

A mid-sized tanto with a gunner's style grip. The knife blade rotates shy of 180 degrees, allowing for a more pistol grip-like feel. A finger guard moonlights as a flipper device when the knife is closed and the use of the ORB® pivot system and tri-spoke pivot assembly make this knife nearly effortless to open.

The large jimping on the blade spine act as a thumb rest and where the blade meets the frame, the jimps are continued and widened to increase confidence in your grip during heavy use. The rear of the handle is slightly elongated to allow the knife to extend slightly past your palm help with stability.

QTRM5TR has added ambidextrous thumb-studs which have been individually machined for extra traction. You'll find two thumb studs on each side of this knife. This is symbolic of its length and adds a touch of character where needed.

About the ORB® Pivot System: The ORB® Pivot System is a sealed ball-bearing technology that is widely considered the second generation of an open-bearing system that is being used by some manufacturers today.

The ORB's advantages are plenty: dirt and pocket lint cannot impede the track of these rollers, they're encased.
