The Cold Steel War Hawk represents the future of modern tactical tomahawk design.

Its sharp cutting edge and wedge style spike offer numerous tactical options for our nation's modern warriors. Drop forged from 5150 carbon steel and expertly differentially hardened, the head of the War Hawk will withstand tremendous blows as well as the awful stress of prolonged use.

Just like the Trench Hawk, the handle of the War Hawk is also highly resistant to shock and impact and will withstand abuse that would easily break even a tough hickory handle. And, as an added benefit, is easily and cheaply replaced when finally worn out or broken from repeated throwing.*

Finally, to help protect its owner from its cutting edge and sharp spike, it comes with a patented innovative articulated Secure-Ex sheath.

The War Hawk combines the tactical styling and material used in the famous Cold Steel Trench Hawk with historically inspired design elements from classic fighting hand-axes of old.

With its wide bearded axe head and curved reinforced spike it is a thoroughly modern fighting hawk and breaching tool - Capable of cutting or smashing through virtually any obstacle!

*Note 1: any handle can, and may, break eventually.

Note 2: This is a large, oversize, heavy item. Additional shipping charges apply. Not eligible for FREE SHIPPING or BASIC SHIPPING methods. Please select Large Package Shipping Method upon checkout. Thank-you.

Very sturdy, holds an edge well. I have put it through a lot of hard tasks, including breaking up concrete with the spike. Handle is very nice. Flexes just enough to minimize hand shock. A little slick, but I have added a lanyard to mine.

Utterly fantastic. Took it camping immediately and it split firewood like a Boss. I was initially concerned the light weight would limit its chopping power, but those concerns were totally misplaced. My only thoughts for improvement would be to concave the handle a little more to limit slipping when wet, and also open it to the potential of being paracord wrapped. I'm a KA-BAR loyalist for knives and this is my first Cold Steel purchase, but am now open to buying more gear from them.

I bought this as I started to get into tomahawks, and I bought it because it looked the coolest out of any hawk I could get.
It is too dangerous to use. The spike drops extremely low to your wrist, so wear something that covers your entire forearm.
The beard on the blade is too pointy. It will get caught on either your clothes or your opponents clothes. This thing is a backpack sized fireman tool. You WILL hurt yourself if you fight with it.
I have the trench hawk trainer and will be buying one of those in real form, because it has none of the issues the war hawk has.
I decided to give it to someone with and angle grinder, for Christmas. Chop the spike off and round off the bottom millimeter (possibly centimeter) off the blade's beard.
For your safety, buy the trench hawk. How many solid wood doors will you have to tear apart in your life? The warhawk is not combat safe in any way shape or form.
Buy the trench hawk.

Very sharp! Nice clean slice of my index finger with slight pressure.

Not had a chance to use this yet but it is more than expected, very sharp good weight, handle a bit slick to my liking but overall awesome warhawk!

my personal opinion of this hawk is it the perfect ''tool of war'' , i mean a piece of equipment that can be used for both offensive and defensive application and day to day task a soldier , or survivalist could face, such as take down tree and branch, dig , clear path, open crate and ammo box etc

i own one and did abuse it in matter that would had destroyed others models, i took down dozen of trees with it, dig the ground through dirt, sand and mostly rocks, pierced and shredded steel sheath (old rusty one but still steel) throw it on tree and even bounced off rocks . so i believe i am well placed to talk about it, one minus point though is that the handle is slippery specially when wet, so adding rubber, or leather stripes or tape on the handle would improve the grip%uFEFF.

I own several cold steel hawks and this one is by far my favorite. It is fairly light. Lighter than the trench hawk. I love it and think you will too.
