Cold Steel 88HNHD Hand and a Half Dagger. The Cold Steel Hand and a Half Dagger features a 13.0" hand forged and expertly tempered 1055 Carbon steel blade with heavy nickel-silver guard and pommel. This provides a compelling contrast to the black leather handle, 6.25" long, and matching black leather scabbard with steel fittings. Overall length: 19.25". Weight: 17.5 ounces.
Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful knives I have ever owned. It is visibly one of the most high quality knives in my collection and it is an excellent companion to the Hand and a Half sword, also by Cold Steel. Great job CS and OGK.
You have to appreciate a thing for what it is, in order to be able to appreciate it at all. The so-called dagger its more like a short sword. Stout sharp and flexible, it could be used as a stabbing or slashing weapon as well as a defensive buckler. this is a simple but extremely well designed blade.
Very well balanced blade because of the steel pommel. The blade is relatively long compared to a knife blade, but still much shorter than a sword blade. Steel is 1055 for ductility and toughness for purposes of defense and blocking. Can be swung very fast and is very lively in the hand. Sharp enough for what it is, but not knife sharp, which is exactly what I would expect for a dagger of this type. Sheath is well made and attractive, with steel around the opening to ensure that the blade will be retained in the sheath even when the blade is repeatedly removed. Long handle facilitates a variety of different grips, and for switching grips smoothly with one hand. Very pointed tip suited for stabbing because of the double edged cruciform shape. Long quillions facilitate the defensive role of this blade. Excellent weapon.
Gorgeous dagger with a beautiful construction. Excellent balance and sturdy enough to hold up well against many solid materials and mine came sharp enough to slice a fine line through paper and cardboard, no tearing. I would recommend this and the Man At Arms series as well though this one is sharper.
