Gerber 5786 Applegate-Fairbairn Covert Folder, 3.875 inch Double Edged Black Blade. The Gerber Covert combat knife, based on the Applegate-Fairbairn design has a spear-point black coated 154CM blade that is partially serrated. The handle is black colored FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) with grip grooves and stainless liners which assure the rigidity of the handle and the roto-lock to lock the blade open. A removable deep carry pocket clip (tip-down) allows convenient and discreet carry. Comfortable and practical, the Covert makes an excellent tactical knife.

This is an incredibly nice knife. Its well made and very sturdy. Ive used this knife every work day for about 7 months now and its still just as sharp as when I got it. The blade as well as the Serrated part is incredibly sharp and makes it very easy to cut a variety of things. I highly recommend this knife!

Good knife. It is my carry knife and I use it daily for typical knife stuff. Definitely recommend it.

It came very sharp but the action for the safety latch was very stiff at first-- especially after the blade had opened. I have now opened and closed it about 50 times and it is manageable with one hand now. For the first 30 or so closings I had to use both hands to push on the switch to get it to unlock the blade to be closed.

I own the Gerber Applegate Covert Knife as well as this one. Although they are somewhat similar in blade and handle design they are also very different. This model has a very squared handle shape with visible metal liners. (The Applegate is smoothed rounded on the edges with the metal liners hidden within the handle) This model also has a lock button which has to be deactivated before opening or closing the blade. (The Applegate is a linerlock which flicks open with the least effort) The lock button in itself is not a bad idea since this is an assisted opening knife. The blade is sharp and well designed. A very nice complement to my other knives.

I cant say much bad about this knife. Its a little smaller than I imagined because I was comparing to the applegate combat folder that I already have. It works smoothly. Blade seems a little small compared to the handle but the dimensions are freely available. Havent used it much but I like it. The safety switch is kind of a hassle but mostly a non-issue. It performs exactly as it should and you shouldnt buy the knife if you dont want that. Id give it 4 stars as a EDC knife but 5 because it performs exactly as described. If you dont want the safety switch then buy another knife.

Just an FYI as to why I do business with you. Last Christmas after calling on the status of a knife I ordered, I learned it was out-of-stock. Ultimately you took care of me and expressed mailed-at no charge, the replacement I ordered. The knife arrived on time + you threw in a free small CTR folding knife as well (nice)..
