This is an excellent camping axe as it is well balanced and the perfect weight for the campsite. I mostly use it to chop wood for the bonfire while tent camping. I would not want to carry it on a back country camping expedition that already involves heavy packs; at that point I would make due with a hatchet. Mine came with a pretty good edge on it to begin with, no sharpening needed until after multiple uses. It looks even better in person with the blacked out handle and head. The finish starts to rub off the blade as you continue to use it, but the scuffed look just shows you've been using it like a man. Made in America is just another plus. Buy it!
