Lynn Thompson bought the first knife that custom maker, Lloyd Pendleton ever made in 1973. Now the two friends have collaborated to produce two of Lloyd's most popular knives, we call them the Lloyd Pendleton Hunter and Mini Hunter.

In fabricating these knives, we have tried to duplicate Lloyd's work as accurately as possible. Both the Pendleton Hunter's hollow ground blade and the Mini Hunter's flat ground blade are honed to perfection. The handle's cross sections and contours match Lloyd's handmade knives exactly. For safety and durability, we have dispensed with leather in favor of Secure-Ex for the sheaths. This material won't rot or mildew and is far more resistant to cuts or punctures than leather.

I liked this knife so much that I purchased a second one. I use it for cleaning rabbits/squirrels that I hunt. It's just the right size and the blade is thick enough that it does not flex. After using it for 4-5 animals, it is easy to sharpen. The plastic sheath holds the knife tightly and it takes some effort to dislodge it. I have small hands and it fits very well The slight upturn of the blade is just right for cutting or skinning.

I own the Cold Steel Pendleton Mini-Hunter in CPM-3V, and carry it in my emergency medical Go-Bag for use in the field as well as use at home for medical and/or surgical emergencies. I realize this is not the intended purpose for this small knife, but as a retired board-certified surgeon, I wish to share how I use it. Although it came razor-sharp, I hand-sharpened it myself because of the use I intended for this knife. As the fixed blade knife in my personal first-aid bag, this knife has already fulfilled its intended and critical use (and it has been splendid thus far). As a retired surgeon, and someone who has used fixed blade knives outdoors for 30 years, I feel comfortable in stating that this exceptionally well made and practical fixed blade knife, for safe real-world uses as designed, is well-balanced and has no discernable inadequacies. If the user has a firm grip on it's ergonomic non-slip knife handle (as should always be the case), the Pendleton CPM-3V Mini-Hunter is exceptionally usable for anything ranging from light bushcraft uses, safe fire-starting in the field (it has a superb 90-degree spine for use with a ferro-rod, etc.), field dressing of small game or, in my case, as an emergency first-aid knife if the user is medically trained/qualified/experienced in the art and science of advanced first aid. The tough CPM-3V steel used in this full tang knife is easily sharpened and also maintains a keen edge throughout one or two weeks of constant normal use as an ancillary bushcraft knife. It should not, however, serve as the primary bushcraft knife (it is extremely strong but it's 3-inch blade is too short to serve as a primary knife in the field). As a retired surgeon I feel comfortable in rating this imminently-useful and very well-made knife as an excellent blade with excellent ergonomics for its intended purpose - for the person who enjoys bushcraft and safe knife use as a hobby and recreational enjoyment out in the magnificence of nature. Although very strong with a flat grind and full tang, the Mini-Hunter is not the optimal primary knife (i.e. only knife to carry in the field). Thank you for allowing me to share my personal opinions and perspectives.

Fantastic Knife and now my favorite. I've had it for about three years now and it's gotten quite a bit of use. Holds a sharp edge for a long time. Absolutely recommend without reservation.

A great blade, good comfortable handle, a blade length that's not threatening to see. A good choice for EDC knife.
