The Large Luzon Flipper mega folding knife is a lotta knife for the money!
Lynn C. Thompson's love of the Filipino Martial Arts inspired him to develop the Luzon Folders. Drawing inspiration from several balisongs in his collection, but functioning as a flipper, the Luzons are a politically correct alternative for those who are unable to legally own balisongs. The Luzon's blades are comprised of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, and expertly hardened to 57-58 Rockwell and feature sharp, strong, points with just enough belly to make them equally useful for cutting and slashing. You'll be dreaming of the Philippines once you experience the Luzon’s bamboo-inspired handles, featuring concave segments that offer countless comfortable grip options. Made of glass-filled nylon (GFN), the Luzon's handles are impervious to the elements, and are unlike any handle Cold Steel has ever made before.
Handsome, budget-friendly, and a breeze to flip open, the Luzons are a formidable choice for those going in harm's way. Offering incomparable levels of safety, they're equipped with a sturdy linerlock/leaf-spring lock and a secondary safety mechanism (designed by Andrew Demko) that, when it's engaged is extremely resistant to shock and impact. It will keep your fingers safe even under the worst conditions. The handle is constructed of super tough GFN with bamboo-like segmentations to ensure a superb grip. Available in two sizes, both feature a lanyard hole and left and right GFN pocket clips for ambidextrous carry. Keep your back with the Large Luzon flipper!

I have studied blade arts since 1994. Fits easily in a normal sized pocket. Comfortable in the hand and the extra length gives an advantage should the very remote chance of having to use this for self-defense arise. Having a guard is a plus so your hand doesnt slip onto the blade. Finally, the structure seems sturdy.
I am so glad I took a chance on this knife. I have no regrets at all. This was my first purchase. Fast delivery with good communication from seller. I did not expect this to be so sharp. I mean I can cut cans with no problem. Packaged well and item as described. Highly recommend, and will be back for more sharpness. Thanks for the great buying experience.
Love it! I dont know why I waited so long to get one. I EDC two knives everyday, one for tasks, one for self defense. This has replaced my Voyager Vaquero in the defensive role. I do however wish CS would make a more premium version of the luzon with maybe AUS10 or S35VN steel and maybe with G10 scales. The scales on this version are fine though and the pocket clip is perfect.
Not one you would easily pocket carry, but it is one hell of a blade.
I never had an outrageous folder before and after watching the You Tube reviews I was hooked. I got the Large one. It came sharp as a razor. The pocket clip is much better than I expected. The price is excellent for what it is. The auto open tab when pulling out of packet is awesome! Good grip, which also was unexpected. The stay open lock worked fine and is a nice touch for safety. The most surprising thing is how well it conceals and carries in the pocket. You can barely tell its there. Cut right thru a garden hose like it was butter. One flick out of the pocket to show my friend instantly sold another one!
This thing is a massive beast! Take it for what it is. A gigantic smooth functioning slicer that with the flick of the flipper makes your friends jaws drop. It is definitely not something you would baton or chop with. There are other Cold Steel folders out there for that. But it serves its purpose well. Not sure if there is any knife you could get for this price that puts a bigger smile on your face when you flip it open.
I bought one as a gift for my son. He liked it so much I just had to get one for myself. I liked it so much that I bought yet another one as a gift for one of my partners!
I bought this one as a birthday gift for my son. He reported that the knife feels solid in the hand yet lightweight enough to make lightning fast movements effortlessly. The Large Luzon folding knife is a perfect weapon of speed, power, and agility. He liked it so much I ordered one for myself.
Excellent knife for the money, locks up strong. Thank you Lynn Thompson.
I use this knife on a daily basis. So far it has performed well and I expect it will continue to do so. I really like the flipper opening - fast and easy.
The single word to describe this knife is AWESOME! I love BIG knives. This will be one of my daily carry knives which I will rotate this one with my Ti-Lite XL, my XL Espada, and my CUDA-MAXX. Thank you Cold Steel and Oso Grande!
They are awesome! Unbelievable deal. It is such a massive folder! It carries in the pocket great and is way lighter than I thought. I carry it around in sweatpants when around the house. Great deployment, super sharp. If you only have $40 to spend on a self defense/combat knife, get this now.
"Excellent finish and fit. Blade is very sharp, and detent is strong enough to prevent accidental opening, but can still be opened with a sharp downward wrist action. Impressive size blade! Not legal in Missouri for concealed carry (over 4"") but well worth having, especially for such a reasonable price! Came very quickly, thanks Oso Grande!"
This is the most massive, most impressive folder I now own. Its extremely well made and looks more expensive than what I paid for it. Function is very smooth and lockup is solid. It fits my pant pocket perfectly if I have nothing in there, otherwise the knife works out and falls on the ground. The only issue I have with this knife is that the clip is not transferable for lefties, because I am ambidextrous and I have family/friends who are lefties. For a collection this is an amazing value, and if you are interested in carrying such a massive blade, this is a great option.
