Ontario 6149 LC 18 Econo Machete (18 Inch 1095 Carbon Steel Blade) Polymer Handle

This is what the military version should be. The blade is thin the way a correct machete is, and is lighter and less fatiguing to use as a result. I bought this to use as a shorter option for backpacking and general woods bumming, and it is useable that way. However, even after fixing the handle slabs (they arrived, like my other machetes, proud of the tang), it raised a blister within 5 mins of use. I then switched to my 24" Tramontina, and even with the blister, was able to continue for another hour of solid use. I don't much care for the handle design of the Ontario, but it is made of good steel, heat treated well. It is probably the highest quality machete I have, just not the best design. Good solid blade though, and reasonably priced.
