I've never actually owned a knife sharpener and only recently started carrying a pocket knife, so I was skeptical of the effectiveness of this sharpener and of my ability to use the sharpener correctly. I carry a CRKT Squid pocket knife and use it all the time. Over time, it got dull to the point where I was having trouble cutting up cardboard boxes to put in the trash. At this point, I was willing to risk tampering w/ the blade, so I ordered this sharpener. I did 5 strokes on the carbide section followed by 5 strokes on the ceramic section. Now my blade is like new and cuts through cardboard like butter.
This little guy really is amazing! It's very solidly put together, I don't think this thing will ever break. But even as robust as this little guy is, there's no problem taking it apart to maintain. The sharpening stones it comes with work perfectly, seem very tough, and sharpened my blades extremely well. And the extremely compact size is a huge bonus. I work as a stock person and use my pocket knife constantly to open boxes and junk. It continually gets dull, but having this handy new sharpener has definitely made it easier to keep my knife sharp. Oh, and the casing has a very impressive powder coat covering . I'd be surprised if it ever started to chip, or get scratched through to the metal.
The only single complaint I have is that the tapered rod is a little tricky to get out. If you have long nails it'd probably be easy. But for me, it hurts my fingers to try and pry it out. Using a knife or something with a point to pry it is no problem at all. Should have just used a slightly smaller magnet to hold the rod down.
P.S. Everything is completely removable and replaceable.

Handy for home and camping. Well built. Easy to carry.
Perfect for sharpening all of my knives with different blade styles.
Excellent little sharpener. I carry it virtually everywhere and always have a sharp knife.
This wonderful tool is an all in one sharpening tool for specialty knives. This tool is great for sharpening straight knives, serration knives, half and half knives, unique edged knives and basically a variety of tactical, hunting and survival knives. Go for it because I test drove it and it is one fine tool.
Used this on a recent trip to Florida and it done a good job keeping my Blackbird sharp.
Great little tool for the price. Get two! Carbide sharpener is good and solid. Great for putting on the rough edge. Use the ceramic for the fine edge. Hold the sharpener by the long end for safety. The tapered diamond rod is great for serrations or a superfine edge dressing. It's held in its storage groove by magnets so occasionally clean the filings off them. They build up. The serrated ceramic sharpener I just didn't get though. It's triangular in shape so it's hard to use but it works great for fish hooks. The tool is solid metal making it a little heavy for keychain wear but it's great for toolbox, tacklebox or backpack.
Sharpens everything. I use the diamond tool for sharpening my rotary leather hole punch and serrated knives. I keep one in the truck and one in the RV.
Works like a champ. But, watch your fingers because it is rather small.
Excellent sharpening tool, it works very quick and mantains my knife sharp at every moment. Its structure is very strong, allowing you to abuse it with no regret.
I ordered this as a backup sharpener. Now that I've had it for a couple of months and used it several times, it is now my go to sharpener. Very well built and gives a great edge on my SOG, Kershaw, etc. Would definitely recommend.
